Volunteers invited to join our new patient feedback group at BHF Goldthorpe

Do you have a couple of hours free every three months or so to come to our Goldthorpe practice for regular discussion meetings about how we can improve the way our practice is working for patients?

Over the last couple of years, we have had to put a hold on our patient feedback group meetings owing to Covid. However, now that social distancing restrictions are no longer in place, we are looking to relaunch the group and to recruit new members.

The views of our patients are very important to us, and we genuinely value your feedback. While it might not be possible to put every idea into action, we welcome open and positive exchanges of view in a spirit of mutual respect, openness and trust.

Everyone is welcome

People of any age from all communities, cultures, groups, genders ethnicities and abilities are welcome to join our PPG – there are no membership requirements, apart from being a registered patient at the practice.

As patient feedback meetings are a legal requirement forming part of our NHS GP contract, we work to a formal written constitution. All meetings will be chaired by our practice senior, Andrea Hibberd, and will be written up to keep an accurate record of issues discussed, decisions agreed and activities due to be undertaken before the next session.

What our patient feedback meetings discuss

The agendas for PPG meetings are very wide and varied – as well as giving feedback on various different aspects of practice services, members might be asked to help get information out to the wider patient population or to undertake appropriate surveys or research projects. Members are invited to suggest topics in advance of each meeting, and sometimes a guest speaker will be asked along to talk about a specific issue of local interest.

We do stress that these are not meetings to which you can bring individual complaints – please ask Reception for more details about how to raise an issue if you are unhappy with any aspect of your treatment.
